Traditional Mexican Wedding

A traditional Mexican wedding is rich with the portrayal of the history and customs of Mexico over the past seven centuries. A traditional Mexican wedding incorporates the following:

The use of promise ring
In a number of cities in northern Mexico, a groom traditionally presents to his future wife a ring called “of promise” that takes place before the ring of commitment at the wending before. The promise ring is given usually a year before giving the ring of commitment. The promise ring is used in long engagements.

Couple is sponsored by their godparents
It also is part of a traditional Mexican wedding that the groom and the bride are financially sponsored by their godparents. Godparents and other contribute to the costs of the whole wedding. It is very important for the couple to know who among the sponsors is paying which part of the wedding when coming up with the wedding budget. The groom and the bride, to give honor to their sponsors, then give them a special place in the wedding reception.

Prayer of the mother of the bride
Before the bride leaves home for the wedding ceremony, the mother of the bride offers her daughter a prayer for guidance and protection.

Wedding Dress and Wedding Shirt
A traditional Mexican wedding cannot be complete without the use of a Mexican wedding dress and Mexican wedding shirt. These two are the perfect attire for beach or outdoor weddings. They are used because they give the comfort and elegance required in every Mexican wedding.
